Sobolev spaces revisited

چکیده

We describe a recent, one-parameter family of characterizations Sobolev and BV functions on $\mathbb{R}^n$ n, using sizes superlevel sets suitable difference quotients. This provides an alternative point view to the BBM formula by Bourgain, Brezis, Mironescu, complements in case some results Cohen, Dahmen, Daubechies, DeVore about wavelet coefficients such functions. An application towards Gagliardo–Nirenberg interpolation inequalities is then given. also establish related formulae for $L^p$ norm $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$.

Multiplication in Sobolev Spaces, Revisited

In this article, we re-examine some of the classical pointwise multiplication theorems in Sobolev-Slobodeckij spaces, and along the way we cite a simple counterexample that illustrates how certain multiplication theorems fail in Sobolev-Slobodeckij spaces when a bounded domain is replaced by R. We identify the source of the failure, and examine why the same failure is not encountered in Bessel ...

Global automorphic Sobolev spaces

The goal is legitimization of term-wise differentiation of L spectral expansions, so that computations producing a classical outcome are correct. We are fond of L expansions because they are what Plancherel gives. Typically, L expansions are not continuous, much less differentiable, so the issue cannot be proving classical differentiability, which does not hold. To say that L spectral expansion...

Lifting in Sobolev Spaces

for some function φ : Ω → R. The objective is to find a lifting φ “as regular as u permits.” For example, if u is continuous one may choose φ to be continuous and if u ∈ C one may also choose φ to be C. A more delicate result asserts that if u ∈ VMO (= vanishing means oscillation), then one may choose φ to be also VMO (see R. Coifman and Y. Meyer [1] and H. Brezis and L. Nirenberg [1]). In this...
